2 yr PQEHelpful?Co-workers who are both pleasant to work with and be around. The care and attention placed on training.
First year traineeHelpful? The reputation the firm has is second to none, it works on the biggest deals for the biggest clients and on the most innovative matters. Everyone that works here is supportive and helpful with what is often intellectually challenging work.
Second year traineeHelpful? The lack of focus on "face time" means that associates are able to independently manage their work load and social time in a balanced way.
Newly qualifiedHelpful?Very interesting and varied work, stimulating and intellectually demanding.
First year traineeHelpful? The firm provides excellent ongoing training, involvement in high profile transactions and the chance to work with people at the top of their field. The culture is one of working hard when necessary in order to meet the high standard of service required.
First year traineeHelpful? The people are friendly and intelligent. The work is interesting. Even the food is good!
First year traineeHelpful? The quality of the work, the responsibility given but most importantly the people. The associates, trainees and most of the partners are, for the most part, very friendly and enjoyable to work with.
Second year traineeHelpful? No face time culture and billing targets.
Newly qualifiedHelpful? You can receive thorough training and gain exposure to several kinds of transactions within each department. Trainee tasks tend to improve with experience within a department. As well, you don't need to stay at the office any longer than you need to get a job done.
Second year traineeHelpful?I am grateful for the high calibre of the work at Slaughter and May. Trainees are valued in the firm and are exposed to a wide range of legal experience. With such a large trainee contingent, the firm is very social and I have made some great friends here.
Second year traineeHelpful?Excellent 24 hour support; ability to form long, friendly working relationships with partners; a lot of autonomy.
1 yr PQEHelpful?I have been involved in a fantastic scope of work in a variety of industries. I have also been given a lot of responsibility over my own work, although the support is always there when I need it. I really enjoy the atmosphere of the firm and have learnt a huge amount in the time I have spent here.
Second year traineeHelpful? We work on complex transactions and cases and learn from the best lawyers in the business, who take our training seriously on a daily basis.
Second year traineeHelpful?Work is generally interesting, hours are sociable, people are polite and friendly and training is top notch.
First year traineeHelpful?Getting praise and recognition where it's due. Being given interesting and challenging work, and the opportunity to be supervised by a partner who is an expert in his or her field.
First year traineeHelpful? The people I work with and the fact that no one judges you other than on the quality of your work.
Newly qualifiedHelpful? The culture is great - there is a genuine open door policy and everyone is very welcoming and polite.
First year traineeHelpful? The calibre of the people is extremely high so you always feel you are absorbing and learning from people around you. The matters that we work on are interesting, often unique and high profile.
Second year traineeHelpful?Resources and the level of support. The highly talented and efficient staff at all levels.
7 yr + PQEHelpful? The clients are very high profile. I was lucky enough to work on a deal in my first couple of months which was reported about on the front page of the Financial Times. However, this was by no means unique among my cohort. I was also very surprised about the fact that there is genuinely no expectation that you will stay late. If you have nothing on at 5:30pm you are encouraged to leave and enjoy an early evening.
