Shearman & Sterling
Do you have any comments on pay and bonuses at your firm?
Pay is good, comparatively.First year trainee, LondonHelpful?
Pay is excellent. Bonuses for trainees are the same for everyone (higher bonus in second year) because we have no control over our work so it's not fair to give one of us a higher bonus just because they were delegated more work.First year trainee, LondonHelpful?
Very decent salary.First year trainee, LondonHelpful?
Paid well as trainees and exceptionally as associates. Everyone in the office gets a bonus -–Trainees get a flat rate bonus for trainees it is a flat rate and billables are not taken into account.First year trainee, LondonHelpful?
A little higher than the standard City trainee pay. Associate pay is on the lower end for a US firm, but work and culture balance it out I think.Second year trainee, LondonHelpful?
Very good pay.Second year traineeHelpful?
Flat rate trainee bonuses are small but better than nothing. Pay is good but it is lacking behind Shearman's US competitors, particularly at a junior level.Second year traineeHelpful?
Trainee salary is market standard for a US firm in London, yearly bonuses are the same for all Y1 and Y2 trainees, which seems fair given that number of hours worked will often depend on someone else.Second year traineeHelpful?
