  • Excellent pay like most City firms. Bonus structure is lacking depending on what team you are in, but made up for by the quality of people you get to work with.

  • There is no internal discussion re pay and bonuses for trainees so I've not thought about it much. Being a trainee during the recession means you've got to be grateful for what you get!

  • Competitive salary, discretionary bonus received for intense period worked.

  • Pay is not transparent at all; the promotion system can seem very arbitrary and unfair.

  • Slightly lower than some other firms. While in some departments this translates into shorter working hours, in some departments you do the same work as other firms just for less money.

  • We've just received pay rises which reward us almost as well as Magic Circle trainees - we'll take the lower amount in return for fewer hours at work.

  • It is encouraging that the salaries are reviewed regularly and adjusted accordingly.

  • Good pay and bonuses for trainees at Christmas if they have been at the firm for over a year.

  • Bonus targets are set quite high and are difficult to achieve in non-transactional teams.

  • The bonus programme is meagre. Pay is good, but not commensurate with hours put in.

  • The bonus structure is not very good, and does not motivate people to work beyond their target hours.

  • Bonuses are very low compared with other firms.

  • Salary is quite good, pension scheme and all other options (cycle to work, annual travel pass loan, etc.) Are good offers.

  • The overall salary is in line with those offered by other City firms.

  • Very competitive salary. One of the market leaders.

  • Get paid a lot for just having walked out of university!

  • It's about standard for City law firms, though these rates haven't seen an increase in a while.

  • For what you do and the fact that you’re essentially still training, I think the pay is very good (doesn't mean I wouldn't take more though!).
