  • My manager keeps me informed of decisions that may impact my team so that I am not caught unawares. I feel senior management does a good job of communicating decisions to our employees, along with the thought process behind the decision. Of course decisions are going to be made that I do not have a say in, but there are many times that I am a part of the decision making process which is very empowering. I enjoy contributing to the decision making process on areas that are going to drive our business forward.

  • I have friends that work in companies where they never see the senior management, never mind speak to them! That’s the complete opposite of Enterprise Rent-A-Car, not only do we regularly talk to senior management, it’s friendly and on first name terms. I recently had a baby, and I was overwhelmed by the number of congratulations messages that I got from my colleagues and on my return to work, every department head and the UK General Manager all invited me to spend time with them being updated about their department. This made me feel really welcomed back to work, and also helped me hit the ground running as I got acquainted with my new customers. We have quarterly meetings where the whole office, from the receptionist to the European General Manager meet and get a company update, everyone gets that chance to ask questions, from could we have an extra microwave in the canteen, to economic forecasts for the year ahead. We get the opportunity to ask questions on the day, or people who are shy and would not want to ask a question in a front of a large group can email them in. I also take part in a second meeting where all the level III and level IV managers meet and get a more detailed update about all areas of the business. We then share that information out to our own teams in smaller groups. There are a number of committees in Enterprise as well, such as the Women in Management committee and the Diversity and Family Focus Group. We have representatives from all employee levels on these committees, and we all work together to look at issues that are important for employees and make Enterprise a better place to work.

  • I have worked in areas and previous years whereby management have worked a lot closer with employees. The last couple of years though this has declined, and generally to those above area manager it is obvious that the autonomy allowed for individuals to make sound decisions has diminished and people are being told what they have to do, as opposed to looking at individual situations. There is a blanket policy – mainly staffing levels that are completely unrealistic, and exceptions need to be made for geographical challenges of certain areas – Wales especially!! We are allowed to make many decisions, however many decisions have been taken away in recent years, which is incredibly frustrating.

  • Management does keep us all informed of firm-wide decisions. We are often allowed to contribute to the decisions – but generally feel that it is just lip service being made as the decision has already been made.

  • Management keeps us very informed. We have a monthly ‘assembly’ for all of our employees in our head office – which is conducted by the MD of the UK/Ireland and the MD of Europe. In addition to presentations of all types, there's an opportunity for a Q [&] A. All employees have the opportunity to contribute ideas and they are all considered. A lot of our really great ideas have come from our new employees – our ‘pick up’ service is one that comes to mind.

  • I think that management at our company are very approachable. We have regular meetings where we are kept up to date with opportunities the company is involved in, and are always given the opportunity to ask questions or suggest topics to be discussed at these meetings. These meetings offer our level 3 and 4 employees the opportunity to put their opinions forward.

  • Upper management always keep us informed. We have meetings once a month and I speak to my line manager at least once a day, and normally see him once a week. He always allows me input into decisions and is there to guide me.

  • The communication channels are open at Enterprise and decisions are made swiftly and decisively. This enables us to enact change much quicker than other organisations to improve performance. As a member of the senior management team, I am often expected to offer new ideas/solutions to help improve the business.

  • I think we have a great system of sharing information. We get regular emails from the owner himself in St. Louis thanking us for hard work, or celebrating with us for milestones, or commiserating with us on global disasters. We are all able to input our thoughts and desires of change via our employee opinion survey. This is held for every employee every two years and gives them an anonymous opportunity to share their views on everything Enterprise. We have seen some great changes come about in our company through the simple ideas of our employees.

  • I am always informed about all decisions made and why, and I as a manager make sure I do the same. Contribution is encouraged.

  • Enterprise is growing. It can be difficult to feed everything which is happening in the business to all parties. Overall I think Enterprise has done well on getting this part right. Information is fed back to us in regular scheduled meetings and emails. Communications also comes from line managers. As the focus is on being the best we can be as a company, I have always found that Enterprise upper management is very receptive to ideas and thoughts regarding decisions which are being made. Everyone's opinions count, and there is definitely a feeling that people on the front have the most current market intelligence and their opinions are actively sort.

  • Management is accessible. Virtually all of the highest level employees have come from a rental background, so are very open to contributions to decisions made regarding specialised support functions. Communication of bigger picture decisions will come through company, or country wide, emails from company and UK management.
